CENTRALE PATON

MUNICIPALITE DE SHERBROOKE

Sherbrooke, QC

The Paton Hydro Station was built in 1927 on Lake Magog, located in the Estrie region of Quebec, Canada. The Municipality of Sherbooke acquired the generating station in 1967.

CHC was contracted to provide an as-kind replacement runner for the plant. The existing runner, which was damaged by cavitation and deemed un-repairable, was electronically digitized onsite to generate a computer aided design (CAD) model that would be used not only to make a pattern for casting but also to guide the final machining on the replacement unit. The 6-bladed replacement runner was cast from stainless steel as one piece and is being installed during the Fall of 2017.
